In IT industry we have to handle projects from time to time which involves with project planning, developing, and executing a project. It has been observed that most of the IT companies adopt new technology without even optimizing it. Efficient management of any project requires proper conceptualization to an implementation so that the project is completed on time and with in the budget. This is the same for every industry so there is need to optimize the processes and systems to work out a viable project.

The IT organizations who in their quest for delivering the best project according to the needs of their clients or for the organization’s own requirement, often have a more flatter vision. They evaluate the risks associated to a particular project and also the outcome so that there is minimum gap between the actual and the expected results. There are examples like Infosys, Wipro and IBM who stand out among the best project management companies, be it outsourcing projects or internal projects. Many a time, IT project managers need to alter their decisions regarding the capital investment.

Depending on the achievement level of any project, a project may be classified as Successful, failed or a challenged project.  A challenged project may be lacking some features and may not satisfy the needs of the clients. It may also be late with respect to the time it was supposed to be delivered.         

     

Further, a project manager essentially should have a clear vision and goal with regard to a particular project and should be able to guide the team properly so that the team does not move away from the goals. A good project will always reveal the perfection of  too many brains as well the leadership ability of the smart project manager. Also a successful project also refers to collaborative skills which shows a good coordination existing between the team members who have been assigned a project.    

How to then optimize the project at hand?

*Control your project budget: When funding or starting up a new project, you must make sure that costs should be under control. Because you are not very sure of the outcome of the project, you should optimize by investing on a optimal scale. But at the same time if you feel that project will yield good results, then have enough flexibility to put in more amount of funds to achieve success.

*Recognize and understand the requirements/conditions necessary to manage and implement projects: If you require to change the location for undertaking the project or hire professionals form outside to conclude or initiate a project, you should do it.

*Always comply with the project user’s requirements: This is a necessary pre-condition since this can make your project successful or a failure. Also keep the user or the customer informed of the key decisions taken regarding the project.

* Have an innovative approach: Whether a short-term or a long-term project, a project if designed innovatively, full of ideas and implemented in newer ways, is sure to gain attention.

* Monitor the project management team: Monitoring and mentoring your project team from time to time is essential to make a good project.

* Test before you execute the project: This is the most vital aspect since after this you can bring modifications in your project if in case you find it unsatisfactory.

 

Above all, any project should be viable so that your users of the project are satisfied. Also communicate the completion of your project so that there is no duplication of the same.
