In
a terrible incident on late Saturday at India’s silicon hub Infosys
Technologies software engineer had killed his wife and later committed suicide
by hanging.
Amit
Budhiraj (30) was working as an software engineer with Infosys had confessed
that he had killed Renu (28, his wife) for having an affair with her colleague.
A police officer investigating the crime said "Amit doubted that his wife
was having an affair with her colleague. He also heard her talking to the
colleague on mobile a number of times on Saturday, which was a festival day –
Holi. Following a heated argument and a scuffle between the couple, Rinku was
suffocated to death using a pillow by Amit," inspector G Nagaraj of
Koramangala police station said.
Police had registered a “clear cut murder case” against Amit. Bodies of the
couple were shifted to St John's hospital in the city for post-mortem.
An Infosys spokesperson declined to comment on the incident involving the
company's senior employee saying "it was a personal matter."
Amit, who has been working in India's second largest IT bellwether over the
last nine years, married Rinku two years ago. The couple was staying in a
rented house, located in the city's posh suburb of Koramangala.
The incident came to light after two days when Rinku's friend in the
neighbourhood, Urmila, was trying to contact the former on her mobile.
"Rinku and Urmila had planned to see a movie. When Urmila did not get any
response from Rinku's mobile, she went to the latter's house to meet her in
person.
With the help of a duplicate key from the landlord, Urmila entered the couple's
house on ground floor and to her shock found Amit hanging from a ceiling fan
and Rinku's body on the cot in their bedroom," Nagaraj recalled.
According to colleagues, Amit was known to be a gentleman and maintained good
relations with everyone at Infosys.
