Cisco, a leading supplier of networking equipment has announced its plans to purchase Pure Networks.
 
The company deals with developing software aimed at making home networking easier for US$120 million.

Pure's software helps managing networks and connecting PCs, Macintosh computers, printers and other devices in homes or small offices. It also helps manage security on the network and identification of problems.

The acquisition will help networking giant to move networking from sharing a broadband connection among PCs and peripherals to connecting multiple networks, applications and services. Cisco expects to build on Pure's software by adding new functionalities to it.

Cisco expects the deal to close in the first quarter of its 2009 fiscal year, cited sources. It plans to retain Pure's employees, including a research and development team that will work under Cisco's Linksys division.

The deal will add new definition to networking thus fulfilling the pending vision of connecting various house hold devices.
