Cisco has been going through a rough patch and in bid to recover, it is realigning its strategies, sources stated. For that it is returning to basics by supporting its core competencies like networking and communications, sources added.

The networking biggie is closing down some consumer ventures like its Flip business which has been very popular amongst the masses. It is also turning towards strengthening its home video platform and integrating its UMI -consumer videoconferencing with its Business Telepresence product line. This move will help Cisco make the transition of the product towards enterprise and service provider go-to market model.

Additionally, it has plans to use Cisco’s Eos media solutions business and execute it somewhere else in the firm. Also, it will retain focus on areas like routing, switching and services, collaboration; architectures and video which Cisco considers as its core areas.

Cisco is making the right move, believe analysts by focusing its energies on few products and aligning its strategies for networking etc. It will help Cisco to streamline goals and move towards a better future.
