Thomas M Kilroy, Intel’s senior VP and general manager, sales and marketing group is all praises for Ravishankar Kuppuswamy, engineering director at Intel architecture, sources revealed.

The reason being, Kuppuswamy is the person who is the brain behind Intel’s newest high end processor Xeon E 7. This implies that the chip has been developed in India, sources noted.


The Xeon 7 has been launched across the world including India and gives better performance than Intel Itanium, 40% better, sources informed. India before the Dunnington had not independently worked on any chip; it used to help bigger teams in developing processors. But one success gave it the foundation and confidence to work on another which came into the markets in the form of Xeon 7, sources said.


The Indian team who developed the Xeon 7 is particularly proud of the chip as it has added more dimensions to the Xeon 7 in the form of design complexity and higher performance and better power efficiency.


Intel still declined the proposition of Xeon 7 replacing Itanium stating that the latter has a niche market of its own which cannot be altered.
