Rumors are in full swing ahead of MacBook Event with speculations of new line of notebooks to be announced by Apple and also contemplations indicate that Apple will drop Intel’s integrated graphics for NVIDIA chipsets in its new family of notebooks.
In addition to its move onboard graphics made by NVIDIA, the insiders expect unveil of its first sub-$1,000 notebook.
The move to go ahead with NVIDIA’s graphics chipsets floated in market in late July when Intel failed to meet the deadline and delayed its Centrino 2 platform considering some technical issues and certification issues of Centrino 2’s WiMAX/WiFi module.
At that time it was for sure that Intel’s Centrino 2 processors, including the latest Penryn-class Core 2 Duo mobile CPUs, will support Apple’s newest MacBooks but now sources claim that Apple will abandon its plans for the main-board chipsets from NVIDIA’s M CP79 mobile platform.
NVIDIA’s MCP79 motherboard graphics processor supports the 1066MHz Front Side Bus, DDR2-800 and optional DDR3-1333, as well as 20 PCI-E 2.0 lanes, SATA-II, Gigabit Ethernet, NVIDIA’s DriveCache memory accelerator, and HD Audio.
Also the indications support that with the launch of these new notebooks, Apple could move away from third-party suppliers’ motherboard graphics entirely and resume building its own proprietary chipsets, as the company did for its PowerPC-based Macs before striking a 2006 deal for Intel processors.
Dumping Intel for NVIDIA is pleasant news for the graphics giant as the company is not smooth in functioning from last few months and has even registered losses. NVIDIA’s latest chipsets have even been abandoned by many consumers and related to this recently, the company also axed its five partners.
The insiders even claim that NVIDIA chipsets could extend beyond the basic MacBook lineup and into MacBook Air and MacBook Pro products as well indicating that Apple could even move away from Intel graphics in some future desktop computers. Satinder Kaur/ITVoir Network |
