Microsoft and Google are reportedly collaborating with Taiwanese chipset vendor MediaTek. The collaboration is a part of strategic move towards gaining grip or hold in the Smartphone segment of emerging markets.
Emerging markets have huge potential in terms of Smartphone market share and others. The biggies are eyeing these latent potential and thus are coupling with associates in order to grab a pie.
As per the latest developments, MediaTek has already developed a chipset and other required hardware for Microsoft’s Windows Mobile 6 operating system. This would help Chinese handset makers to design new phones based on new Windows Mobile.
The reports quote that there is huge demand for Smartphones and rich communication devices in emerging markets. To fulfill these demands, companies are motivated towards offering mobiles at affordable prices.
Also, MediaTek would unleash a hardware and software package with Google’s Android mobile phone operating system in the second half of this year.
The deal is expected to add boost to both the vendors as they will get access to hundreds of small mobile phone makers in China but till these updates no comments from Google and Microsoft were received. Renu Singh/ITVoir Network |
