The two leading brands in consumer electronics, Sony and Panasonic will unleash new digital SLR (single lens reflex) cameras by next week.
Sony will extend its "alpha" family of cameras and will be showcased at company's event that is scheduled to take place in Tokyo on Wednesday.
No information has been leaked yet but it seems that it will be a high-end camera in the alpha line-up. The camera will feature a full-frame sensor, an image sensor the same size as a 35mm film frame with a resolution of 24.6 megapixels and image stabilization to reduce the effects of camera shake.
After the Sony's camera launch, Panasonic will display its successor to the DMC-L10 at a Tokyo news conference. As per reports, the new camera will offer unique features to set a new trend in digital SLR photography. The latest camera will become the third Lumix digital SLR and is likely to be a main feature of Panasonic's Photokina line-up, as cited by resources.
The digital SLR segment is becoming more competitive with players like Nikon and Canon facing stiff competition from newcomers including Panasonic, Sony, FujiFilm and Olympus. Shalini Ale, ITVoir Network |
