Infosys Technologies, India’s no. 2 IT services provider, has won the bid of Rs. 387crores ($83 millions) IT project for Karnataka power distribution utilities.
The letter of intent was issued to Infosys and it is known that the project would cover the entire state.
The project was awarded after the confirmation from all the five electricity distribution utilities in the state the previous week which will take into account 100 towns in the state covering the maximum area in the state and also it must start its take off within 36 months.
To this news, Infosys officials were not available for the comments.
Infosys has out beaten 10 other companies, including Tata Consultancy Services in the bidding.
The project is basically a part of central government-funded program to fill the gap of electricity losses in the country.
Tata Consultancy Services and HCL Infosystems Ltd. already have such similar projects in West Bengal and Rajasthan, respectively.
