To fetch down the price tag of WiMax prepared notebooks, Intel is intimately working with PC manufactures such as Dell, Acer and Asus and with such an initiative the notebooks cost will be lowered to $300 - $400 (Rs 16000-Rs 20,000).

Intel newly appointed MD for WiMax division C S Rao stated that at this cost (Rs 16000-Rs 20,000) the company is predicting a much profound break through in urban and rural market.

As the Indian Telecom market becomes much more eye-catching by following the broadcasting of 3G and BWA(broadband wireless access) licence policy similarly  Intel believes that in the next year the country’s WiMax market possibly will touch Rs 21,000 crore.


Commenting on this update, C S Rao said “WiMax market has the possibility to achieve $5 billion in the coming three years. The country puts in for about more than 6-7 million wireless subscribers each month and Intel thinks that the next roll-out of WiMax services should be around 7 to 8 per cent of the new customers subscribes to Wimax services. “
 
With the mounting competition in the sector and the steady decline of tariff rates, the average revenue per user is all time low and it is looking ahead to the recent services from 3G and WiMax which will help operators to raise the each user revenue inflow.
