Internet TV is certainly catching the eyeballs of consumers as well as manufacturers. After Sony and Samsung, joining the league is LG Electronics. It has been reported that the Korean electronics giant is planning to team up with search giant Google to get a foothold in the internet TV market.
In an attempt to expand the profit share and conquer the living room, Google has been striving to get through limited web content and support from hardware manufacturers. Google TV offers online access to videos and websites direct on TVs, also consumers can use applications and play games through this highly customized TV.
As of now, Google TV only comes built-in on certain Sony television models, as suggested by the sources. However the South Korean giant Samsung is also prepping to launch Google TVs.
At the annual CES Show in Las Vegas, LG Electronics announced that the company will launch its first Google TV in the upcoming week. It has been said that this move is a way out to cushion company’s squeezed margins.
The research firm DisplaySearch expects the global TV market to grow by only 2 percent this year due to low consumer demand and weak economy stats.
Further, it has to be seen if the sales graph of all the tech biggies joining Google, climbs up or goes for a toll.
