NComputing, the leading provider of low-cost desktop virtualization software and hardware, today announced that its sales rate now exceeds 1 million seats annually, based on second-quarter results.
The NComputing solution is based on a simple fact: today’s PCs are so powerful that the vast majority of applications only use a small fraction of its capacity. NComputing’s desktop virtualization software and hardware tap this unused capacity so that multiple users can simultaneously share it. Each user’s monitor, keyboard, and mouse connect to the shared PC through a small and very durable NComputing access device, which recreates a true PC experience. The device itself has no CPU, memory or moving parts like a PC so it is easy to deploy and maintain. The access device and the virtualization software costs as little as $70 per seat.
Large companies have been evaluating desktop virtualization solutions from VMWare and Citrix, but the cost and complexity is high compared to traditional desktops. NComputing is radically less expensive while being simpler to deploy and maintain.
With revolutionary pricing and performance, the benefits of virtualization are now available to every type of organization—from small business to global enterprise; from local municipalities to national governments; and from K-12 schools to colleges and universities.
As NComputing’s penetration into corporate computing environments has grown, the company has developed compatibility features to permit corporate users who have deployed older generation technologies like VMWare, Citrix and Microsoft Terminal Services to deploy NComputing’s $70 access devices compatibly in these environments.
The company has won numerous awards for its revolutionary technology, including Gartner Cool Vendor for Client Computing, Wall Street Journal Technology Innovation Award, Red Herring Top 100, VARBusiness Five-Star Partner, Mexico’s Expo Comm SMB Award, and IT World Canada Top 5 Businesses to Watch.
With the NComputing X300 model, seven users can simultaneously share a single PC, while the company’s L-series supports up to 10 users on a PC, 30 on a basic server, and hundreds with a more powerful server. A breakthrough in green computing, NComputing access devices consume as little as 1 watt per user, versus 115 watts for the shared PC. Support costs plummet because fewer PCs are needed and the solid-state NComputing access devices require little or no maintenance. Shalini /ITvoir Network |
