Intel’s Centrino which is due release this week is getting the attention of all key notebook and PC makers. Sony, has unveiled four laptops based on the latest processor by Intel.
Centrino 2 is the newer version of Centrino platform after it was launched in 2003. SA per reports the new chip ensures better multimedia performance, lower power consumption, and improved wireless networking. The four laptops launched recently include Vaio Z, Vaio SR, Vaio FW, and Vaio BZ.
Vaio Z is integrated with 13.1” screen, Blu Ray disc, 128GB SSD (optional). It will be available in the U.S. from August with price starting at $1,800. The SSD model will retail from $2,300.
Vaio SR has a 13.3-inch screen with LED-backlight. The notebook is integrated with Sony's Vaio Media software. It will be available from this month with prices starting at $1,400.
Vaio FW, an increment in the size has a 16.4-inch screen, with Blu-ray Disc playback with a full high-def screen and streaming software, Vaio Media software. The Vaio FW will be available starting this month with prices from $1,000 for the standard model and $1,750 for the premium model with full high-def screen.
The Vaio BZ is targeted at business people and has a 15.4-inch widescreen display and spill-resistant keyboard.
Some of the models are loaded with Intel's vPro, which allows corporate IT managers to access and fix PC problems remotely. It is loaded with Windows Vista Business, but can be downgraded to XP. Renu Singh, ITVoir Network |
