There may be talk of Indian offshoring industry slowing down and operating margins of the companies shrinking but when it comes to the worldwide outlook for this sector India remains at the top position.According to the list of top 30 countries in the fray for the offshoring services prepared India is still the prefferd choice for offshoring activities. There has been a groeing debate whether the companies in the US are moving towards offshoring services offered by the companies in the East European countries an Phillipines.Also there have been talk of reverse offshoring which in the long term might be counterproductive for Indian offshoring Industry.But this report indicates just opposite trends. India has again been ranked as the leader in the offshore services followed by China, Russia and Brazil which might provide alternatives in future but at present are lagging behind India by huge margins.Simultaneously the result indicates thet Ireland, Israel, Northern Ireland and South Africa emerging as the destinations which are strong in language skills and thus suitable for those outsourcing activities which are demanding in terms of language.
The research firm used 10 criterias to analyse the country’s position with respect to offshoring potential and only 30 countries were found suitable to be compared.But there are a slew of new locations new locations which can get more offshore business.And the number of those countries stand at 35 which might emerge as contenders to India in long term.These countries are Colombia, Guatemala, Panama, Indonesia, Mauritius and Thailand. The research indicates that seven countries from the Americas are attractive destinations for US companies but there have been a lack of government support is which is restricting offshore development.
It is the Asia pacific that can pose a challenge to India in near future as the region boast of 10 countries in the top 30 list prepared by the firm.But the region has been weak in language skills and it is here that India scores with its vast pool of English speaking manpower.
