Analyzing the online activities of Indian teens, it is found that Indian teens spend their 86 percent online time for accessing social networking site Facebook.
If reports are to be believed, Facebook usage by Indian teens is followed by Twitter on which teen spend 54 percent of their time.
The latest report titled ‘McAfee's 'Secret Lives of Teens' is based upon a survey, carried out in seven cities including Mumbai, Delhi, Pune, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Chennai comprising a sample size of 757 teenagers and 750 parents.
To the reader’s surprise, 20 percent of the surveyed teens revealed they access adult sites willingly several times a day. On the other hand, almost 32 percent parents think teens willingly access it only a few times a year.
According to Melanie Duca , Consumer Marketing Director (APAC) at McAfee, "It's very challenging for parents to educate their technology savvy children about online safety. We hope this study provides Indian parents with some key insights and learning's on how to protect their children online”.
As far as the content of surfing is concerned, the report further revealed that people spend 10 percent time on entertainment sites, up by 1.2 percentage points from the previous year.
