The world's leading chip manufacturing unit Intel has announced to acquire Linux Company Opened Hand.
Opened Hand is a London based firm that specializes in offering mobile Linux development and services. As per the latest updates, the market watchers say that this move is to boost the usability of Linux on Atom processors.
The new unit after the acquisition will work for the Moblin Software Platform community. The Moblin Software Platform is being developed for the Intel Atom processor targetting mobile internet devices and low power laptops.
The acquisition will help Intel to address the challenges of enabling cutting edge user interfaces for these new class of devices.
Adding further the reports have that Intel will continue to support existing Opened Hand projects, including software library Clutter, used for GUI creation, and Matchbox, an open source base environment for the X Window System.
