A significant overhaul of Finnish giant Nokia’s devices that includes a deal to use Microsoft Corp’s software Windows Phone 7 in its smartphones will impact the profit earnings of Nokia throughout most of this year, stated by Jorma Ollila, Chairman at Nokia.
To rewind, almost a year ago, the Finnish handset giant and world's largest cellphone maker by volume unveiled a major strategic shift to Microsoft's software for its smartphones. Analysts believe, intending to recoup its lost market repute against Apple Inc iPhone and Google Inc's Android powered handsets, Nokia is betting big on Microsoft software.
A spokesperson from Nokia recently stated in an interview that the company has sold more than one million Windows Phones in over two months, with developers showing increasing interest.
Trusted sources informed that app makers Twist Mobile and Chennai-based Nextwave are creating numerous intuitive apps for Windows Phone 7.
However, the sales of its new Windows Phones have so far failed to dent the dominance of Apple and Google. Reviewers believe, WP7 is devoid of many important features available in other mobile operating software like Google Android and Apple iOS. This may be a possible reason for WP7’s slow growth in mobile device market.
Let's hope that Nokia which is struggling with tumbling sales these days will revive its position in handset industry soon.
