In a major move to reshuffle, Rambus has declared to downsize by laying off almost 90 of it's workforce. The decrease in compensation owing to retrenchment of the workforce will offset the company to save as much as US $ 17 million on a annual basis. The cash savings will be realized through the retrenchment of the employees as well as through the expenses minimized in other operations.

 
The restructuring charges incurred would be around US $ 4 million in the next 2 quarters.         

According to the company sources, this kind of move will allow for strategic positioning and the investments can be made in newer technology along with a more protected and patented inventions. The promises made to their customers for new products would be fulfilled as well as the maintenance of the XDR memory architecture.  

            
Rambus will completely realign itself by the end of 2008 and will be having a total number of 340 employees approx.
