To fill the vacant job post of Head of global studios since February, Sony has announced the appointment of Shuhei Yoshida as a new executive.
Phil Harrison was the last to serve on this post and resigned in February. After leaving this post vacant for more than two months, Sony has come out with decision to promote a senior executive at its U.S. games studio to lead its global studios.
According to updates, Shuhei Yoshida has been asked to take up the post from Friday. Yoshida is with the company for last 15 years, joined in 1993. He had also accompanied Harrison, in starting up Sony's PlayStation business. Prior to this promotion, Yoshida has worked in numerous roles at the Sony's games division and was promoted to senior vice president of the U.S. studios in last February. At the current job post he will be responsible for development of Sony's in-house games software.
Sony is buzzing in sales for game consoles. The recent updates concluded that PlayStation 3 has achieved sales of 9.24 million units (lesser than anticipated 9.5 million units sales) for this financial year. But the scenario was just opposite for PlayStation Portable. The PlayStation Portable shipments surpassed anticipated 13 million consoles with sales reaching 13.89 million units.
If compared PlayStation 3 has registered faster growth ratios against PlayStation Portable. According to reports, company hopes high under the leadership of Yoshida. Renu Singh, ITVoir Network |
