As per the market reports, Microsoft, Google and Yahoo are now stalled after the recently served show-cause notices by the Supreme Court in which these organizations have been alleged of doing illegal business of promoting products on the internet thorough the use of advertisements and sponsored links on their search engines. These products are related to the pre-natal sex determination hence luring the online users to have desired gender choice. In this attempt they have failed to realize the fact that such pre-natal determination is banned in India and were moving against the law by advertising products related to such an act. All the three organizations have been asked by a lawyer of Supreme Court to provide answers to the this faux pas. India is already afflicted with 10 million female babies being aborted in the last 40 years, the main cause of which is the girl child being considered as a major financial burden on the family. Meanwhile, Google has denied any receipt of petition favouring the child laws while Microsoft and Yahoo were not available for any comments.
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare along with Ministry of IT and Communication have also been made responsible as for their inability to take any warranted action against these search engines. Lalit Yadav/ITvoir Network |
