According to latest data, Microsoft Windows 7’s market share surges over the largest-ever declines in Windows XP and Vista in the November month.
The report suggests that the new operating system has gained primarily on the expense of Windows XP. It is reported that for one copy of Vista replaced by Windows 7 during November, more than six copies of XP were swapped for the new operating system.
Further, Apple’s Snow Leopard also lost share during November.
In November, Windows XP accounts for 69% share with the drop of 1.45%, and Vista reports 18.6% share with drop of just 0.2%. However, the company kept its total operating system share stagnant at 92.5%, the same as in October. Released on October 22nd, Windows 7 achieved 2.2% share in October, whereas in November, it has over 4% market share. The research firm said that in first three weeks, Windows 7 had attained a slice of the operating system pie that it took Vista five months to reach.
Mac OS X and Linux have reported a market share of 5.1% and 1.2%, respectively.
