In an attempt to create a domicile for community driven specification, a non profit organization is formed recently in Portland, Ore named as Open Web Foundation. The organization is an independent non profit organization projected to assist creation, development and protection of “Open web” and web technologies.

Earlier there were separate organizations for each web specification, but now the foundation is going to amend the trend by structuring a solitary foundation. Other information like regarding the members, governance, sponsors etc. will be disclosed later.

The organization is devoted to the development and security of non-proprietary web technologies. The Open Web Foundation will only focus on specifications; it won’t touch code. This is an supplementary spot in favor of Open Web Foundation.

This organization is one hand above the Apache Software Foundation which is intended to build a framework to facilitate communities dealing with the legal necessities to create successful and widely accepted specification.
