Google predicts that India will add 200 million internet users in the next two years. According to Google's country head in India, the company expects India to reach at least 300 million internet users by 2014, up from about 100 million now. Despite a lot of the infrastructure challenges, about 100 million Indians stay online spending a huge amount of time online for doing a varied set of things. According to an official at Google, Advertisers should actually have a digital first strategy and they shouldn't stress significant on TV advertising. However for many industries digital today can not only reach the audience that's most valuable to them but also target them in a very interesting way. Google also expects to expand the market of advertisers significantly by drawing in small businesses – travel agencies, small universities, restaurants especially those who haven't even set up Web sites and have not started hawking their products online. It is also believed that 200 million Indian Web users will largely access the internet on the high-speed wireless networks. However these predictions depend on handset makers bringing out discounted smartphones that the masses can afford. Google has been working closely with manufacturers to bring out low-cost phones in India that use its Android operating system. -ITvoir NewsDesk Tags: Google, Advertising, Internet Users
