Wipro new Bluetooth 2.1 EDR IP

The Wipro-NewLogic BOOST baseband and software enables full interoperability and faster time to market for customers.

Wipro-NewLogic, the semiconductor Intellectual Property business unit of Wipro Technologies announced that its Bluetooth baseband IP Core has passed the official testing for Bluetooth 2.1 EDR compliance in a Bluetooth Qualification Test Facility.

This low-power and flexible baseband builds on the company’s silicon-proven and fully certified Bluetooth 2.0 EDR solution. Combined with the Wipro-NewLogic Bluetooth 2.1 EDR RF IP, it offers semiconductor and system players a large range of system configurations. The IP can be integrated into multiple solutions like connectivity chipsets, applications processors or other system on chips for the mobile, automotive and consumer markets.

“It was important for us to pass official testing in a Bluetooth Qualification Test Facility to show our commitment to enable our customers’ product to achieve full interoperability. This guarantees that our customers will successfully pass Bluetooth qualification, enabling them to get to market quickly and without risk, with the most advanced standard features available,” said Senthil Murugesan, Vice President and CEO, Wipro-NewLogic.

The new features introduced in Bluetooth 2.1 EDR make the technology even easier to use, in a more secure way and with reduced power consumption. For instance, the new Secured Simple Pairing feature significantly improves the user experience: pairing a Bluetooth headset with a cellular phone becomes very simple and requires fewer steps while being more secure. The Bluetooth input devices like mice, keyboards and gaming devices will see their battery life grow up to 5 times thanks to the Sniff Sub Rating.
