xTuple announced its xTuple ERP 3.0 application has been named “Best Business Application” for 2008 in the prestigious LinuxWorld Product Excellence Awards competition at LinuxWorld Conference & Expo 2008 in San Francisco.
The LinuxWorld Product Excellence awards, judged by a group of respected industry experts and given out by IDG World Expo, producer of LinuxWorld, recognize major areas of innovation in the Linux and open source community. Among the criteria for the award are the vitality and contributions made by a product’s public user community, the continued support shown by the product’s host developer, and innovation in the features created by both the developer and the community.
xTuple ERP is available in three versions – the PostBooks, Standard, and OpenMFG Editions. All three versions use the same client software, run equally well on Windows, Linux, and Mac, and are fully internationalized.
The PostBooks Edition is xTuple’s popular open source accounting, ERP and CRM software, available at no cost to businesses of all kinds. It includes full financials, robust CRM, sales and purchasing, ad hoc reporting capabilities, and lightweight inventory, manufacturing and distribution tools. The Standard and OpenMFG Editions add additional enterprise functionality in the areas of distribution, retail, and manufacturing.
Version 3.0 of xTuple ERP, which debuted in June, is the result of significant contributions by both xTuple and the vibrant xTuple ERP user community. Its extensive list of new features include the world’s only open source assemble-to-order Product Configurator; a Screen Builder for designing customized system dashboards; advanced warranty tracking; internationalization and localization upgrades; and a user-specific roles and groups capability.
xTuple’s “Best Business Application” plaque was awarded at a ceremony August 5 during LinuxWorld Conference & Expo 2008, held in San Francisco’s Moscone Center. LinuxWorld is the premier global event focused on Linux and open source solutions, attracting nearly 10,000 attendees and 200 exhibitors from around the world. Satinder /ITvoir Network
